The original intention of the yard waste pickup program developed by the Board of Supervisors was to provide removal of limbs as a result of maintenance type work within the limits of resident's properties. As a result of the storm on 12/16/07 we have been overwhelmed with requests to remove downed limbs and branches. Staffing and scheduling restrictions do not allow us to spend extensive amounts of time solely on limb pick up. The following guidelines will help serve the needs of the residents while not compromising the normal function of the township Public Works crews.
YARD WASTE DISPOSAL REGULATIONS as a result of the winter storm of December 16, 2007 Posted 12/27/2007
Limb pick up will begin on Wednesday, January 2, 2008.
Residents must call the Public Works office at 215-766-0189 to register for pick up of materials.
Progress will depend on weather, residentparticipation and scheduling (staff availability).
Yard waste - tree limbs and branches - are to be placed in neat piles at the edge of the road along the frontage of your property.
The cut ends of all limbs must be toward the road edge and within three (3) feet of the road.
Limb size is restricted as follows: six to ten (6-10) foot lengths, no greater than five (5) inches in circumference.
Limbs less than two (2) feet in length should be composted or put out with your trash. Please, no piles of small broken pieces and twigs.
Pile sizes are restricted to three (3) feet high and fifteen (15) feet long. Piles larger than this will be left behind for return pick up at a later date to be determined.
Once all currently registered pick ups have been made, we will re -register those with additional material and begin a second cycle of pick-ups.
Following the completion of the second cycle, you may call to schedule additional pick ups as part of the township monthly yard waste pick up on the last Monday of the month.
Tangled piles of branches and brush will be left behind.
Crews will leave large unmanageable pieces behind.
Crews cannot perform any cutting of unmanageable pieces
Special requests can be made to allow burning by permit (no cost) for this storm event only. Please contact the Public Works office at 215-766-0189 regarding this request.
